Stanley Biwott took home first in the men's half-marathon category and two-time U.S. Olympian Desiree Linden finished first in the women's half-marathon category.

The race drew people of varying ages and backgrounds from across the globe. Kathrine Switzer, the first woman to run the Boston Marathon, and Olympian Meb Keflezighi participated in the race.

Loghan Gonzales, an 11-year-old San Antonio girl, said the half-marathon was the 18th half marathon she's ever run. She finished in an hour and 45 minutes.

Among the 22,000 runners, San Antonio firefighter Charles Hughes was likely the only runner in full firefighting gear.

Hughes ran the half-marathon in full gear in honor of fallen firefighters and other first responders. Hughes was raising money for the 100 Club of San Antonio, which helps the families of fallen and injured first responders.
