SAN ANTONIO – The city of San Antonio has hired a third-party firm to do a forensic audit of Centro San Antonio.
The move comes after an accountant with Centro was accused of embezzling $175,000.

Centro is a public-private partnership that promotes progress in the downtown area.
San Antonio police have been conducting a criminal investigation into the alleged embezzlement.
The city says, so far, it appears no public dollars were affected but the forensic audit will examine that.
Centro also has hired a separate firm to do an audit.
Last month, Centro CEO Pat DiGiovanni stepped down after news of the embezzlement was made public.
Police have not made any arrests.
