SAN ANTONIO – A 30-year-old man was arrested Wednesday night in connection with the stabbing of a Bexar County sheriff's deputy.
The deputy responded at 11:08 p.m. to a home in the 21000 block of Pearl Harvest in North Bexar County for a call of a son who had assaulted his father, sheriff's officials said.
The deputy tried to talk to the son, Gary Brandon Hamre, but the two got involved in a struggle, and that's when Hamre stabbed the deputy, officials said.

The deputy suffered cuts on his neck and head and was taken to a hospital.
Hamre was also injured, and he was treated by paramedics at the scene.
He was arrested and charged with attempted capital murder of a peace officer, continued violence against family and resisting arrest.
