Alaskan husky stolen from SA Humane Society to be put back up for adoption Monday

Hedge-Hog's adoption fee is $50

SAN ANTONIO – An Alaskan husky was returned to the San Antonio Humane Society Sunday morning by the couple accused of stealing him a day earlier.

SA Humane Society spokeswoman Felicia Nino said the couple were caught on camera walking off with Hedge-Hog. On Saturday, SA Humane Society tweeted photos of the couple and their car with the hope that someone would turn them in.

Hedge-Hog had been up for adoption for just one day when Nino said the couple walked in, asked to check Hedge Hog out and then took off with him without going through the adoption process with the staff.

"All of us were so nervous and didn't really know what to expect with him being stolen yesterday, so to have him come back within less than 24 hours, we are so thankful and feel very blessed to have him back," Nino said.

Hedge-Hog doesn't appear to be injured, but was evaluated Sunday to be sure.

He is expected to be back up for adoption Monday, Nino said.

Hedge-Hog's adoption fee is $50. Nino stressed that adoption fees are reasonably low and there is no reason to try to steal an animal.

Those interested in more information on the adoption or foster process can visit the SA Humane Society's Facebook page.
