SAN ANTONIO – An 8-year-old boy was shot accidentally by a family member who left afterward late Tuesday on the city's Northeast Side, police said.
The boy suffered a wound to the abdomen and was taken to University Hospital in stable but guarded condition, police said.
Police said the boy and a 21-year-old relative were upstairs when the man accidentally discharged the weapon, police said.
The shooting was reported at an apartment complex just before midnight in the 11300 block of Roszell Street.

The relative ran away, police said.
When he's caught, he will be charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, police said.
