Man stabbed confronting suspected car thief

Victim in critical condition after attack at Ashford Tanglewood Apartments

SAN ANTONIO – A man was stabbed after he confronted someone trying to break into his car, police said.

The attack happened around midnight at the Ashford Tanglewood Apartments in the 200 block of Tanglebriar Lane on the city's North Side.

Police said moments after the victim and his brother saw someone breaking into their car in the parking lot and confronted them, two other men armed with a knife and an AR-15 jumped out from behind a vehicle and attacked the siblings.

The victim was stabbed several times in the chest and arms and was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition.

"It is scary. You know, it makes you want to think again, you know? Like, 'Am I safe to go outside again at night or what'?" said a man who lives across the complex.

The three assailants, two believed to be in their 20s and one possibly a teenager, took off in two different vehicles.

No arrests have been made.
