SAN ANTONIO – Authorities said a package left at a religious facility "in an unusual manner" was determined to have non-hazardous materials in it.
Authorities blocked off roads surrounding the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in the 3300 block of Weir Avenue Monday afternoon after someone called to report a suspicious package. Authorities also evacuated a nearby home.
The San Antonio Fire Department, San Antonio Police Department's bomb squad and ATF were called to the scene to investigate the suspicious package.
SAPD Sgt. Steven Huron said the package was sealed in a manner that would not be accepted by a delivery service and was left by the driver of an unmarked car.
Authorities said the delivery of the package was captured on camera.
Huron said the package contained papers and other non-hazardous materials.
"We're just glad that there was basically nothing to it and everybody is safe and nobody is hurt," Huron said. "(People inside the Kingdom Hall) did the right thing to call us."
Huron said he believes arson investigators are looking into who delivered the package.
