SAN ANTONIO – A local woman is dead and her son is in police custody, charged with fatally stabbing her late Thursday night at a home on the city's Northwest Side.
The stabbing happened in the 2100 block of West Kings Highway, which is located just west of Interstate 10 near Fredericksburg Road and Woodlawn Avenue.
According to police, officers arrived to find Leticia Barnett, 54, with severe stab wounds. She would eventually be pronounced dead at the scene.

Police took Ivan Castro, 29, into custody on a charge of murder. Officials said they are still working to determine what led to the attack.
Neighbors living in the historic Monticello Park neighborhood said they are surprised by the violence because it’s usually a quiet area.
Castro's bond has been set at $150,000.
