NEW BRAUNFELS – The New Braunfels Police Department said four people were rushed to a hospital Monday following a "nearly head-on" collision between a large box truck and small pickup truck on Loop 337.
NBPD officials said one person was airlifted to a hospital, and emergency medical services units rushed three other people involved in the crash to other hospitals.

According to city officials, three vehicles were involved in the crash. Police said the box truck hit the pickup truck and the pickup truck struck a sedan in the immediate aftermath of the initial crash.
The crash, which occurred around 11 a.m., caused the northbound lanes in the 1100 block of Loop 337 to close for nearly an hour.

In a photo shared by NBDP officials, the sedan’s driver's side doors were lying on the road.
Police said the 55-year-old driver of the pickup was taken by AirLife to University Hospital and a 57-year-old passenger was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center
The driver of the box truck, only identified as a 40-year-old man, and a passenger were taken to Christus New Braunfels Hospital.
No one in the sedan was injured.
