SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police have made an arrest in the murder of a 38-year-old woman on the city's Northeast Side.
Carlos Martinez, 41, is charged with murdering his wife, JoAnn Muniz.
Officers were called to an apartment in the 12600 block of Scarsdale around 4 a.m. Sunday for a report of a stabbing.
According to police, Martinez and his wife were upstairs in the apartment when two juveniles reported said they heard Muniz screaming. That's when, police said, the juveniles ran downstairs to find the Muniz grabbing her neck with a towel.
According to an arrest affidavit, the woman told the two juveniles "I need help, I'm dying."

Emergency crews were called and Muniz was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition where she later died.
Police said the juveniles told them they saw a black vehicle leaving the scene. Officials said that they are still working to determine a motive.
Martinez was arrested by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force and the Texas Department of Public Safety without incident in the 2500 block of Palo Alto.
