Man accused of shooting 2 after being thrown out of popular Southtown bar is identified

Jeremy Israel Sanchez, 22, charged with shooting 2 people outside Bar America

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police have identified a man suspected of shooting two people after being thrown out of a popular Southtown bar early Sunday morning.

Police said Jeremy Israel Sanchez, 22, opened fire around 1 a.m. near South Alamo and Presa Street, not far from Bar America.

According to police, Sanchez had been thrown out of the bar for being drunk and fighting with customers. He continued to fight with people outside the bar and into the streets, police said.

Sanchez then walked to his truck, grabbed a gun and fired it twice, striking two victims, police said.

One of the victims was shot in the hand and the other was shot in the leg, police said.

Investigators said they are trying to figure out if the victims were fighting with the suspect, or if they were innocent bystanders.

Both victims, men in their 20s, were taken to area hospitals. They have not been identified.

Police later found Sanchez and took him into custody. He is facing two charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
