SWEDEN – Saga Vanecek is celebrating her lucky find — a pre-Viking-era sword she pulled out of Vidostern Lake while on vacation with her family over the summer.

The 8-year-old said she was playing in the water and felt what she thought was a stick.

Turns out she pulled a 1,500-year-old sword out of the water, according to the BBC.

Experts at the local museum estimated the sword's age and now the ancient relic is at the Jonkoping County Museum.

Saga's discovery led the museum and local council to carry out further excavations at the site, finding a brooch from the 3rd Century, the BBC reported.

The lake is still being investigated in hopes of yielding more ancient finds.
