New tips wanted in 2016 murder of 37-year-old man

Angelo Polendo was fatally shot in 1500 block of N. Sabinas St

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police and Crime Stoppers are seeking the public’s help for more clues in an unsolved fatal shooting from back in 2016.

Angelo Polendo, 37, was shot and killed on Oct. 11, 2016 in the 1500 block of North Sabinas Street near West Laurel Street.

According to police, the unknown suspect fired several gunshots just before fleeing in a gray-colored vehicle south on North Sabinas Street. Officers arrived at the intersection a short time later to find Polendo deceased.

Two men were arrested for the murder after Crime Stoppers first offered a reward. However, their charges were dismissed in December 2016, with prosecutors citing "insufficient evidence" based on information received after their arrests.

With the Crime Stoppers release coming out Thursday, Polendo’s mother, Eliza Polendo, hopes someone will come forward.

“Go and talk. Speak. Make the statement. We need to get closure. We need for Angelo to have some kind of closure. For whatever reason you’re scared; you shouldn’t be scared. You shouldn’t be scared at all. There’s no reason. This is justice. We have to get justice. I mean, if the same thing would happen to them, they would understand," Eliza Polendo said.

Anyone with any knowledge of the incident is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (210) 224-STOP.

Tips can also be texted to CRIMES (274637) or by visiting the Crime Stoppers website.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
