SAN ANTONIO – A 20-year-old woman police said was found fatally stabbed early Tuesday at the Leon Creek Greenway North running trail has been identified as Mia Lutzenberger.
"She had been stabbed multiple times. I'm not talking two or three, but multiple times," said San Antonio Police Chief William McManus. "It was not a robbery. This was not a sexual assault, we don't believe. I don't believe, by any stretch that this was a random attack."
McManus said detectives are working on a motive.
"I don't know what the motive was, but somebody was pretty angry. It typically means it was very personal and someone was very angry," he said.
When police arrived around 5 a.m. at the trails near Loop 410 and Ingram Park Mall, they found Lutzenberger and two female witnesses who were taken in for questioning.
"They were not exercising. They were not in their jogging (clothes). They were in their jeans, regular street clothes," McManus said. "Right now I will tell you from what I heard in the park, (their) stories do not add up in any stretch."
