1 detained, 1 at large after security incident prompts lockdown at Fort Sam Houston

All clear given after incident Friday morning

SAN ANTONIOUPDATE 12 p.m.: An all clear was given at Fort Sam Houston and all operations have resumed as of 10:11 a.m. Friday. 

Security forces and San Antonio Police Department have identified the suspect at large and SAPD will be releasing their identity. One other person was detained this morning, officials said.

UPDATE 10:30 a.m.:  Officials have released the following information on the incident at Fort Sam Houston. READ BELOW:

At approximately 4 a.m. this morning Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston was put on lockdown because a vehicle with two occupants ran the Schofield gate.

Security Forces personnel pursued the vehicle. The two occupants abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. One occupant was detained.

The other occupant is still at large, but the San Antonio Police Department and Security Forces are currently working together on the situation. 

Security Forces personnel are taking every measure to ensure the safety of our service members, their families and civilian employees.

Additional information will be released as soon as it becomes available.

UPDATE 9:20 a.m.: Joint Base San Antonio-Sam Houston is back on lockdown. An official at the command post confirmed the post has been locked down again.

According to the verified Twitter account for Joint Base San Antonio, the lockdown is due to "a security incident at one of the entry control points." 

Earlier Friday morning an automated call was sent out to tell people to stay away from the base.

UPDATE 6:45 a.m.: The lockdown at Fort Sam Houston has reportedly been lifted. School buses remain on a delay.

Fort Sam Houston has been placed on lockdown, according to reports KSAT has received from viewers on post.

Viewers said sirens were heard and an automated call was sent out to tell people to stay away from the base. People on post are not allowed to leave at the moment.

Fort Sam Houston ISD school buses are on a one hour delay this morning due to a situation on the installation.

The district made the announcement on Twitter at 6:17 a.m. Friday morning.

KSAT has a news crew headed to the scene and will share more information when it becomes available.
