SAN ANTONIO – A city crew could decide the fate of a Northeast Side Jack in the Box restaurant and an adjoining convenience store as early as Monday morning.
The building that houses both, located on Perrin Beitel Road near Wurzbach Parkway, was destroyed by fire overnight.
Joseph Arrington, a public information officer for the San Antonio Fire Department, said it left the building unstable and dangerous.
He said the city’s dangerous structures team would be assessing the building to determine if it should be torn down.
Building collapse also was a concern for firefighters as they battled the blaze.
Arrington said because of that reason, they fought the fire mostly from outside, using two aerial trucks to pour water from above.
The businesses were closed when the fire broke out shortly before 3 a.m. Monday.
There were no injuries reported.
