A man was shot and killed early Monday in the front yard of a home on the city's East Side.
According to police, two men went to a home at 1 a.m. in the 200 block of Leonidas Drive to speak with someone about drugs.
"A fight ensued between two people who showed up and the person at the home. He then says he was able to take the weapon away, fire one time at the suspect," said Officer Carlos Ortiz, a police spokesman.
The man was shot in the face and chest and died at the scene, police said. The other man ran from the scene.
The man who opened fire was arrested, Ortiz said.
A neighbor who didn't want to be identified said this is the first time a shooting has happened on their street.
"Surprising ... Kind of not used to it, because it doesn't happen over here," the neighbor said.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and are asking anyone with tips to please call Homicide Unit at 210-207-7273.
