CASTLE HILLS – One of two Castle Hills police officers hospitalized following a deadly crash involving a suspected drunken driver early Sunday morning has been released from the hospital, officials with the Police Department said.
A Castle Hills police sergeant said officers and bystanders were helping individuals who had been involved in a single-vehicle crash on Honeysuckle Lane near Loop 410 around 3:30 a.m. when the driver of a truck, whom authorities have not yet identified, barreled through the scene.

A lieutenant with the Castle Hills Police Department said that the driver of the truck hit two police cars, struck a concrete barrier, hit another vehicle and hit at least one pedestrian, although police said it could have been two pedestrians hit. A woman died at the scene of the collision, two bystanders were critically injured and two officers were seriously injured, police said.
According to the lieutenant, the two officers had to jump approximately 20 feet from Loop 410 onto the frontage road to avoid being run over.
Police said the second officer, who remains hospitalizedm suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Updated conditions of the other two bystanders who were helping the driver in the first crash were not immediately available. However, police said they were transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.
The woman killed in the collision has not yet been identified.
