SAN ANTONIO – San Anotnio firefighters were kept busy Wednesday morning with a fire that rekindled in a downtown bar and caused the evacuation of a nearby hotel.
The fire started around 4:45 a.m. in the kitchen of Waxy O'Connor's, an Irish pub that neighbors Mokara Hotel and Spa, Fire Chief Charles Hood said.
Flames spread through the vents and could be seen on the roof, setting off alarms at the hotel.
More than 60 guests were evacuated, according to Rusty Wallace, the general manager of Omni Hotels.
As they returned to their rooms and firefighters prepared to leave the scene, the fires rekindled through the vents and the guests were evacuated again.
At the peak of the fire, 36 fire units responded to the scene, according to the fire department's website.
All guests were accounted for and there were no reported injuries, fire officials said.
