BCSO: Man, 73, killed wife of 50 years, found covered in blood

Woman later died at hospital

SAN ANTONIO – A man is accused of strangling his wife of 50 years Saturday morning after a Bexar County sheriff's deputy allegedly found him covered in blood.

Officials arrested Aaron Toney, 73, on a charge of murder after the incident in a home in the 8000 block of Block Mallow after 1 a.m.

Toney told deputies he "choked her out" after a disagreement, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said.

He called 9-1-1 because he thought he'd "gone too far," Salazar said.

Deputies arrived to the home to find the woman unconscious and Toney covered in blood from several cuts, which Salazar believes were self-inflicted.

His bail is set at $75,000.

The death came as a shock to neighbors.

"I still can't believe it," a neighbor, who wished to stay anonymous, said, adding the pair were "just normal people."

Salazar said this is the sixth family violence-related homicide in unincorporated Bexar County this year.
