SAN ANTONIO – A 65-year-old man was taken to area hospital after being shot through a door by his daughter's ex-husband, San Antonio police said Wednesday.
Officers responded to a disturbance call just before 2:30 a.m. outside a home in the 5400 block of Spring Cluster, not far from Stahl Road and Judson Road on the Northeast Side, to find the man shot.
According to police, the shooter has had an ongoing dispute with the victim, and was once married to his daughter.
Police said the gunman had made numerous online threats in the past and has threatened the family on a regular basis.
Authorities say the victim called police after the suspect was seen on video camera at his home possessing a long gun. Police said the man left the home, but returned roughly an hour later and began banging on the front door.
When the victim opened the door the suspect opened fire, striking the victim five times in the torso and legs, police said. The victim was taken by EMS to Brooke Army Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Police said they searched the neighborhood for the suspect but were unable to locate him. They believe he might have driven off in a white pickup truck.
Police said the gunshots also hit a house next door. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
