54-year-old man accused of raping 16-year-old boy after agreeing to meet at motel

Boy's father discovered they had been sending sexual messages through Kik

SAN ANTONIO – A 54-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a 16-year-old boy after agreeing to meet at a motel following a series of messages online.

The misconduct was discovered by the boy's father back on Oct. 29, according to an arrest affidavit. That’s when the father saw his son leaving a Motel 6 near Six Flags.

The report said when questioned at first, the boy told his father he was at the motel to meet a girl, but when the father used an app called Teen Safe to look through his son's phone, he discovered sexual messages from an adult male.

The teen later admitted to meeting Bernardo Reyes at the motel, the affidavit said.

When police questioned the teen, he told them that he had been receiving sexual messages through the Kik app. After their first encounter, the teen and Reyes continued to text each other and met a second time at the motel, the affidavit said.

Police said the victim told them that after getting inside the room, he got cold feet and wanted to leave, but it was too late.

Reyes allegedly grabbed the boy's arm, made him lie down and then sexually assaulted him, police said.

Police said after the attack, Reyes made the boy shower and threatened to kill him if the secret got out.

Reyes is charged with both sexual assault of a child and unlawful restraint.
