LAREDO, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers recently seized over $800,000 worth of cocaine and heroin in three separate incidents at the Laredo checkpoints.
The most recent seizure happened at the Gateway to the Americas Bridge on Monday, when a 38-year-old man from the United States who was riding a bicycle was referred for a secondary examination, officials said. CBP officers found 3.57 pounds of heroin that have a street value of $97,200.

On Sunday, a CBP officer referred a 33-year-old Mexican national who was driving a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta for a secondary examination at the Lincoln-Juarez Bridge. Upon inspection, officers found 19 pounds of heroin that have a street value of $519,600, officials said.
CPS officers and a K-9 unit on Friday found 25 pounds of cocaine in a 1999 Mercury Cougar driven by a 25-year-old Mexican national at the Lincoln-Juarez Bridge, officials said. The drugs have a street value of $195,160, officials said.
The three men were arrested, and CBP officers seized the vehicles and the narcotics, officials said.
