Comal ISD approves across-the-board pay raises

An internal audit has found that Comal ISD overpaid contractors $5 million-$7 million on projects included in the 2008 bond program, including a number of schools, and has hired a firm for a full audit.

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – Teachers and staff within the Comal Independent School District will be getting a raise.

The Comal ISD Board of Trustees approved a 3 percent across-the-board pay raise for the 2015-16 fiscal year at its meeting Thursday evening.

The pay raise includes eligible full-time employees, teachers, faculty and all other staff.

According to a press release, Comal ISD also increased the starting pay for bus drivers and custodians.

"The Board continues to make compensation a priority," said board president David Drastata in the release. "We always wish we could do more. We value the work of all of our employees, and we will continue to address areas of need and give the district's compensation task force the chance to expand these opportunities."
