SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio massage parlors are among those listed on the website Rubmaps.com, where reviewers can post what sexual favors are available for a price.
Backpage.com has long been the home for sexually suggestive ads for "body rubs," which is the term most practitioners use in lieu of massages.
Now Rubmaps.com has carved a place on the web by offering potential patrons reviews of San Antonio massage parlors, including what sexual favors they may offer.
Rubmaps has ratings, prices and addresses. And reviewers can anonymously list the rub provider's ethnicity, hair color, hair length and even breast size. Other details include whether the provider has tattoos and whether kissing is OK.
But what attracts patrons who are seeking sexual gratification at massage parlors is the explicit list of sexual favors the provider may offer.
In the last year, San Antonio police have made arrests for prostitution at at least two massage parlors.
The KSAT 12 Defenders visited both locations to find out what operators thought of the website and whether they did indeed provide sexual favors for a price.
One location was closed and a woman who came to the window inside the other massage parlor ducked out of sight quickly and seemed confused when asked if this was a legitimate massage parlor.
"No, this is just body rub down relaxation," the woman said.
"I'm not surprised by anything," said Sgt. Javier Salazar, spokesman for the San Antonio Police Department.
Police would not say how police investigate massage parlors, but say they keep up with the trends.
"If it's social networking websites, we do it," Salazar said. "If it's classified type websites, we do it."
While not being cited for prostitution, a number of San Antonio massage parlors were cited by the vice squad for ordinance violations.
Those include liquor on the premises, unlit exit signs and faulty fire extinguishers.
