Driver killed after crashing into water-filled ravine while racing, SAPD says

Crash possibly caused by street racing, according to police

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio police department believes two drivers might have been street racing before a deadly crash on the South East Side Saturday night.

According to police, the driver of a Chevrolet Camaro lost control in the 3300 block of Research Plaza and crashed into a ravine full of water.

Police said the car was submerged and the man driving was also underwater for minutes before paramedics got him out. He was taken to the hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police said his female passenger also suffered minor injuries and is recovering at the hospital.

Police are questioning the driver of a green Ford Mustang.
