SAN ANTONIO – As of Monday, Houston Texans' JJ Watt raised over $19 million in his Houston flood relief campaign.
Watt's hands on help in Houston along with his push to raise funds for victims of Harvey inspired former NFL running back and San Antonio native Priest Holmes.
"I was watching JJ Watt last week and he was talking about how he was raising funds in order to help evacuees," Holmes said. "I got inspired by hearing that story."

On Sunday, Holmes was at the San Antonio Food Bank to receive a truckload of food and supplies from Feed the Children -- an Oklahoma City non-profit.
"I thought, 'Hey, I know someone. I have connections. I was in the league for 11 years, so how can I help these evacuees?'"

Holmes said in a matter of 72 hours, the truckload of donations was settled and on its way to San Antonio. Holmes said he coordinated with the San Antonio Food Bank to ensure the supplies would be distributed as needed.

In the aftermath of Harvey, many eager to help victims drove truckloads of food and supplies only to be turned away by authorities because the items had to be processed. Holmes noted he wanted to make a donation, but didn't want his efforts to go to waste.
Holmes, a graduate of San Antonio's Marshall High School and a standout at the University of Texas at Austin, played for the Baltimore Ravens and the Kansas City Chiefs.
