No description found

The family of 68-year-old Jerry Collins is working in conjunction with Crime Stoppers to offer a $40,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Collins' killer.

The Vietnam veteran was found dead on Jan. 28, 2012, inside his mobile home on the 800 block of Corrinne Drive.

His throat had been cut and he had been hit in the head with what was believed to be a hammer.

"I strongly feel that God is probably ready for the answers to come forward," said Steve Collins', the victim's son.

"Seems like money talks. Therefore, let it talk," he said.

Collins lived in his mobile home behind Rittiman Hardware on Eisenhauer, which he owned. He left behind 2 sons, 6 grandchildren, an ex-wife and a girlfriend of 8 years.

"This is not a natural thing this is not something you can deal with. This is someone who has taken something from us," said the younger Collins.

He says certain things found in his father's home seemed amiss. For example, Colllins says his father always kept a loaded gun by his side, but after his murder the gun was found unloaded.

"You go to bed every night and pray, and you get up every morning and pray that we could get closure on this," he said.

A year later, the family hopes $40,000 is enough to get them answers and justice.

"Regardless of how minute you think it is, it could be astronomical for us," said Collins. "So don't say they don't count, because it could."
