GATESVILLE, Texas – In September of 2016, Frances Hall, 54, was convicted of murder in the death of her husband Bill Hall Junior. He died after his motorcycle left the road and crashed on the night of Oct. 10, 2013.
“I didn’t hurt my husband, never would I hurt him,” Frances Hall said recently during an interview at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice’s Murray Unit.
Frances Hall had been chasing her husband’s lover, Bonnie Contreras, as both sped along Loop 1604. Bill Hall, 53, was following on his motorcycle.

During Frances Hall’s trial, prosecutors told the jury that she had intentionally forced her husband from the road into a ditch.
“I don’t know if I hit him or he hit me, I don’t know,” Frances Hall said during the interview.
She insisted that her husband’s death was an accident.
“I didn’t hurt my husband. Never would I hurt him,” Hall said. “So when they came back with guilty, I was devastated.”

Frances Hall said that 28 days before her husband’s death, he admitted that he had been having an affair with Contreras, but said that it was over.
“He told me that he was sorry and for me to just hang in there,” she said.

“Looking back, I should have divorced him. At least he would still be alive,” Frances Hall said.
Frances Hall said that she has forgiven her husband, but is having difficulty forgiving herself.
“It’s still hard for me to actually say that I forgive myself,” she said.
Referring to Contreras, Frances Hall said, “I’ve forgiven her before I forgive myself.”

Though the jury found Frances Hall guilty of murder, it ruled that it was a case of “sudden passion.” That reduced her prison time to 2 years, the minimum for murder.
Frances Hall said that her real punishment is not spending time in prison. Her real punishment, she said, is spending her life without her husband.
“I love Bill Hall Jr.,” she said. “For the rest of my life, I will always love Bill Hall Jr.,” she said.
