SAN ANTONIO – An 89-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of his wife Thursday morning on the city’s Southeast Side.
According to booking records, George Holland has been charged with murder in the slaying of the woman, whose name has not been released.
Records indicate that the woman, who is in her 80s and has the same last name as the suspect, was shot several times. Holland was the only one with her in the home when the victim was discovered by neighbors, who were allowed into the home after they went to check on the couple.
Officer Doug Greene, a police spokesman, said the neighbors called 911 around 9:30 after making the discovery in the 100 block of Mendoza Street.
Holland was taken by detectives to Public Safety Headquarters for questioning, Greene said.
A motive hasn’t been established, but Greene said the couple had health issues, but wasn’t specific on what type.
A handgun was found at the scene.
