SAN ANTONIO – If all you want for Christmas is a furry, four-legged friend, now’s the time to adopt.

Ebony-colored pets will have no placement fees, ACS said in a news release. However, lighter-colored dogs will be $25 and lighter-colored cats will be $15.

Animals adopted from ACS include spay/neuter, vaccines, de-wormer and a microchip.

For the sake of social distancing, appointments can be made online. Walk-in availability will depend on space in the kennels, ACS says.

Those visiting the shelter must wear masks, have their temperatures checked and maintain a social distance from others.

ACS urges potential new pet owners to “make an informed decision before getting a new pet to find a companion that best fits their family’s lifestyle.”

The shelter is located at 4710 State Highway 151 on the West Side.
