Man shot while climbing to balcony of North Side apartment, police say

Incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. in 4600 block of Vance Jackson

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are searching for a suspect who shot a man outside of his balcony late Sunday night.

Officers were called around 11 p.m. to the Latana Apartments in the 4600 block of Vance Jackson Road, not far from Jackson Keller Road and Loop 410 after receiving word of a shooting.

According to police, the victim, 33, was outside of his apartment and walking with three men when an argument ensued. The victim ran back to an apartment below his and jumped that unit’s fence when someone opened fire on him, police said.

He began to climb up to his apartment above as the suspect kept shooting, striking him in the arm.

The wounded man was taken to University Hospital for his injury.

Police described the suspect as a male with dreadlocks, who fled in a sedan.

The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department, and EMS all answered the call.

So far, no arrests have been made. A motive is not known.
