Man hit, killed by car while crossing highway to get to restaurant, San Antonio police say

Victim identified as Jon Isaac Lopez, 27

SAN ANTONIO – A man was hit and killed by a car while crossing the highway to get to a restaurant on the city’s Southwest Side, San Antonio police said on Monday.

The incident happened at 8:30 p.m. near Loop 410 North and Old Pearsall Road.

According to police, a man later identified as Jon Isaac Lopez, 27, was trying to cross the northbound highway lanes when a 2020 Buick Enclave hit him. Lopez died at the scene.

Police said Lopez may have been going to a restaurant on the other side of the road when he was struck by the vehicle.

Investigators closed off part of the highway to conduct the investigation into the man’s death.

Police say the driver stopped to try to help the victim and will not be charged in the incident.
