SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio’s iconic holiday lights on the River Walk, which were lit earlier than usual last year, will continue to shine past the holiday season for some extended cheer.
The San Antonio River Walk Association announced the holiday lights will remain illuminated through Valentine’s Day.
Like during the Christmas season, the 100,000 lights draped on trees lining the river will stay on from dusk to dawn each night.
Mayor Ron Nirenberg gave an early unveiling of the lights in mid-November, saying it was a surprise for locals amid a “tough” 2020.
“If you’re like me, one of the things you look forward to most every year is watching the River Walk light up for the holidays,” he said at the time during his daily COVID-19 briefing.
The lights typically stay up through New Year’s Day, though each year is different. It has been a San Antonio tradition since 1974.
