3 pets killed, home nearly destroyed in East Side fire, firefighters say

The cause of the fire is still under investigation

Three pets were killed and an East Side home was nearly destroyed after it went up in flames, according to the San Antonio Fire Department. (KSAT)

SAN ANTONIO – Three pets were killed and an East Side home was nearly destroyed after it went up in flames, according to the San Antonio Fire Department.

The fire happened around 7:30 p.m. Thursday at a residence in the 2600 block of Christian Drive.

Firefighters said the fire was “fully involved,” and three residents escaped the flames safely. Five pets were inside of the home at the time of the fire, but three of them didn’t survive.

The home had extensive damage to its roof, its interior and it was near a total loss, according to SAFD.

Fire officials are still working to determine the cause of the fire.
