Argument between women turns into shooting when boyfriends get involved, SAPD says

Officers called around just before 5 a.m. to 5400 block of Middlefield Drive

SAN ANTONIO – One man has been shot and another man is on the run following a shooting during a domestic disturbance on the city’s Southwest Side early Friday morning, San Antonio police said.

Officers were called just before 5 a.m. to a home in the 5400 block of Middlefield Drive, not far from Medina Base Road after receiving word of gunfire.

According to police, two women had gotten into an altercation just before their boyfriends got involved. That’s when, police said, one of the men pulled out a gun and shot the other in the arm.

SAPD said the man who fired the gun fled following the shooting. The victim, a 29-year-old man, was taken to University Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition, police said.

Investigators say they have a possible identity for the shooter and are identifying him as a 25-year-old, but did not release a name. Police used both K-9 units and the Eagle helicopter in their search, but came up empty. The search and investigation are both ongoing, police said.

Authorities did not say what the argument was about. When found, the man faces a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, police said.
