Driver detained on suspicion of DWI after 2-vehicle crash just north of downtown, police say

SAN ANTONIO – A man in his 50s has been detained following a two-vehicle crash just north of downtown early Friday morning, San Antonio police said.

The crash occurred around 1 a.m. near the intersection of Broadway Street and East Grayson Street, not far from Highway 281 and the Pearl Brewery.

According to police, the man was traveling northbound on Broadway in a Toyota pickup truck when he ran a few red lights and then crashed into a GMC sport utility vehicle, causing it to roll over.

Police said the driver of the SUV had no injuries, but that many of his tools from inside scattered on the street and sidewalk after the crash.

The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department, and EMS all answered the call.

The driver of the pickup truck has been detained on suspicion of DWI, police said. His name was not released.
