Woman killed in overnight shooting on East Side, San Antonio police say

Incident occurred around 1 a.m. in 1300 block of Hays Street

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are investigating after a woman in her 30s was shot and killed on the city’s East Side early Thursday morning.

Officers were called around 1 a.m. to the 1300 block of Hays Street, not far from North New Braunfels Avenue after receiving word of a shooting.

According to police, several people were leaving a bar and hanging out at a street corner while also heading to their cars when someone fired several gunshots. That’s when, police say, the woman was struck by a bullet and killed. The woman was found lying in the street by officers and was pronounced dead at the scene.

SAPD said they don’t have much to go on, and do not have a motive for the shooting. No arrests have been made.

The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department and EMS all answered the call.

The woman killed has not been identified, pending notification to next of kin.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, police said.
