Neighbors noticed that flames were coming from the roof and chimney area, SAFD Battalion Chief Jarrett Vocke said. They then told the residents of the home who then tried to extinguish the flames with a garden hose.

Firefighters arrived and were able to fight the flames in the attic from inside the home. No one was injured.

The cause is under investigation, Vocke said. The damage is estimated at $80,000-$100,000.
