After the vehicle was found, deputies searched the nearby area. On Saturday, the sheriff’s office confirmed that deputies found an elderly man deceased, not far from the vehicle.

Officials are still waiting on the man’s identification from the Nueces County Medical Examiner. The death investigation is now in the hands of the Nueces County Sheriff’s Office.

Acevedo, who goes by Raymond, disappeared May 8 in the 10600 block of Canyon River in Helotes. He is described as being 5-foot-5 and weighs about 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white baseball cap, blue polo shirt and blue jeans.

His nephew, Nathan Bernal, told KSAT on Friday that Acevedo was heading home and then was going to return to pick up his aunt but never returned.

Bernal said his uncle has gotten lost before while driving, but it’s never been for this amount of time. He said his family was having Mother’s Day dinner at his home when Acevedo left and they have not heard or seen him since.

Acevedo drove away from the home on Canyon River that night in a black Nissan Sentra. His family was shocked to find out where Acevedo’s vehicle was found.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office at 210-335-6000.
