Barbecue grill to blame for house fire in West Bexar County

Fire was called in around 4:30 a.m. at a home in 900 block of Stable Glen Drive

SAN ANTONIO – Firefighters in West Bexar County battled a house fire early Wednesday morning.

It happened in a neighborhood near Loop 1604 and Potranco Road on a street called Stable Glen Drive. Firefighters were called out around 4:30 a.m.

According to the fire department on scene, the fire started outside on the backside of the house. A barbecue grill was the cause of the fire.

Five people -- two adults and three children -- live inside the home, but only three were there during the fire. They all made it safely out. A dog however, is still unaccounted for.

No other homes in the area were damaged. There were no reports of any injuries to firefighters.

Fire officials have yet to give a damage estimate to the home.
