SAN ANTONIO – A motorcyclist in his 40s is dead after a vehicle crash on Loop 1604 early Friday morning, according to San Antonio police.
The crash occurred around 2:45 a.m. on Loop 1604 southbound, near West Military Drive on the city’s far West Side.
According to police, a passerby spotted the motorcycle on the side of the road and called for help.
Officers arrived to find a man unresponsive in the grass, police said. Despite life-saving measures, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the motorcyclist had been traveling south on Loop 1604 on a black Harley Davidson FLH when it went off the roadway and into a grassy median and then onto the access road ramp. That’s when, police say, the man lost control of his bike and went into an uncontrolled skid.
The man was thrown about 20 feet from the motorcycle, police said.
Investigators say there were no witnesses to the crash and they believe he may have been on the side of the road for while before he was finally noticed.
The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department and EMS all answered the call.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
