ALTURAS, Cali. – A corrections officer at Modoc County Sheriff’s Office in California has been arrested after an investigation revealed sexual misconduct.
An arrest warrant for Melanie Alicia Martin, 34, was obtained Saturday after deputies say she had sexual relations with multiple inmates.

Martin was booked into the Modoc County Jail, the same jail she was fired from, and her bail was set at $20,000.
Sheriff Tex Dowdy said, “the Modoc County Sheriff’s Office is taking this alleged allegation of sexual misconduct very seriously.”
California law states that certain people, including corrections officers, cannot engage in sexual activity with an inmate as inmates cannot consent if they are confined to a detention facility.
