The shooting happened before 6 a.m. Monday.

Police found the 47-year-old victim of the shooting suffering from a gunshot in his calf near his pickup on Watson Road, just West of Highway 16 South.

Before he was taken to a hospital by ambulance, police say he told them he had seen the shooter fire at another driver as they all headed south on Highway 16.

The victim says when he turned onto Watson Road, he noticed the suspect’s truck stopped in the middle of the street.

That man told police he got out of his pickup and that is when the suspect took aim at him.

After daylight, numerous bullet holes in the side of the victim’s truck became more visible.

Police had only a basic description of the shooter, someone in a white pickup.

They searched the area, but did not find that person right away.

Officers said the victim told them he fired back at the shooter’s truck, so that white pickup also may have bullet holes in it.
