9 suspects involved in shooting at Uvalde Memorial Park identified by police

Some of the suspects have multiple charges or were arrested on outstanding warrants

UVALDE, Texas – Uvalde police have identified nine suspects who were involved in a shooting at Uvalde Memorial Park that left two people injured and hospitalized.

At last check, an 18-year-old was injured but expected to recover, and a 16-year-old was critically injured in the shooting on Sept. 8. Both were being treated at a San Antonio hospital.

Listed below are the suspects and their charges, according to Uvalde PD:

  • Donavan Hill, 17 -- Charged with engaging in organized criminal activity
  • Karlyn Alexandrya Valdez, 22 -- Charged with engaging in organized criminal activity and child endangerment
  • 16-year-old juvenile, unnamed -- Charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and engaging in organized criminal activity
  • Daniel Chapa III, 18 -- Charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, engaging in organized criminal activity
  • Nathaniel Chapa, 17 -- Charged with engaging in organized criminal activity
  • Bruce Brown, 18 -- Charged with engaging in organized criminal activity
  • Jordan Victorio, 18 -- Charged with engaging in organized criminal activity
  • Jose Javier Jimenez, 17 -- Arrested on outstanding warrants for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and engaging in organized criminal activity
  • Victor Flores, 17 -- Arrested on charges of engaging in organized criminal activity

The shooting happened around 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at the park, located at 401 E. Main Street, about two miles from Robb Elementary School.

Authorities believe the incident involved rival gangs and stemmed from a fight.

The shooting also prompted an evacuation for the Uvalde Together Resiliency Center out of precaution, but all staff were deemed safe and accounted for.

The Texas Dept. of Public Safety is assisting Uvalde PD and the sheriff’s office in the shooting investigation. More arrests are expected as the investigation continues.
