These City of San Antonio offices will be closed for the winter holidays

Public safety and emergency services will remain in operation

SAN ANTONIO – The City of San Antonio has released its holiday schedule for the winter holidays.

City Hall and most municipal offices in San Antonio will be closed from Saturday, Dec. 24 through Sunday, Jan. 1.

Public safety and emergency services will remain in operation.

Other city services will operate as follows:

Open:

  • Police will be on duty.
  • Fire and EMS personnel will be on duty.
  • 3-1-1 Call Center will be available on Dec. 24–31 from 8 a.m. - 11 p.m. for urgent animal concerns and traffic signal malfunctions by pressing option 1.
  • Municipal Court magistration services and SAPD’s detention center.
  • Curbside garbage, recycling, and organics collections will all have normal collections for Christmas week and New Year’s week.
  • Bitters Brush and Atlas Organics Brush Recycling will be open Dec. 27-29.
  • Bulky waste collection centers and household hazardous waste sites (Frio City Road, Rigsby, Bitters, and Culebra) will be open Dec. 27–29.
  • Solid Waste Customer Service will work from 7 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
  • Animal Care Officers will be on duty.
  • Animal Care Services Lobby and Adoption Center will be open from noon-4 p.m. Dec. 24 and 31, regular hours Dec. 26 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and Dec. 27, 28, 29, 30 from 1-7 p.m.
  • Central Library and most branch libraries will be open Dec. 27-30
  • Alamodome Box Office will be open Dec. 27–28 from 10 a.m.–4 p.m., and on Dec. 29 from 3 p.m. for Valero Alamo Bowl ticket sales only.
  • Downtown visitors will enjoy free parking in city-operated parking facilities from 6 p.m. Dec. 24–8 a.m. Dec. 26; and from midnight Jan. 1–6 a.m. Jan. 2.
  • La Villita and Market Square will be open Dec. 26–31.
  • Spanish Governor’s Palace will be open Dec. 27, 28, 29 and 30.
  • City parks and trails will be open.
  • Centro de Artes Gallery will be open Dec. 28–30.
  • Homeless Outreach and Homeless Connections Hotline (210-207-1799) will operate a limited crew Dec. 27-29 from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Crisis Advocate Services will be available at SAPD substations from Dec. 26-30 (schedules vary by location).
  • Callaghan WIC Clinic will be open on Dec. 28 from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Closed:

  • SAPD’s Administration and Records Section.
  • SAFD Administrative Offices.
  • 3-1-1 will be closed on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 with the exception of emergency concerns related to animals and traffic malfunctions from 8 a.m. - 11 p.m. by pressing option 1.
  • Animal Care Services Lobby and Adoption Center will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
  • All Metro Health clinics.
  • All Senior/Adult Comprehensive Centers and Senior Nutrition Sites.
  • Willie Velasquez and Claude Black community centers are closed. Frank Garrett Center will be closed except for Parks and Recreation programming for its winter holiday camp from December 27-30.
  • Child Care Services administrative offices.
  • Head Start administrative offices and school district sites.
  • Pre-K 4 SA school is closed Dec. 17-Jan. 1.
  • Pre-K 4 SA CEO and Corporate Office is closed Dec. 20-Jan. 2.
  • Neighborhood and Housing Services.
  • There is no Curbside Brush collection for Christmas week and New Year’s week.
  • Bitters Brush and Atlas Organics Brush Recycling closed on Dec. 24, 25, 26, 30, 31, and Jan. 1.
  • Bulky waste collection centers and household hazardous waste sites (Frio City Road, Bitters, Rigsby, and Culebra) will be closed on Dec. 24, 25, 26, 30, 31, and Jan. 1.
  • Dead animal collection crews will be off duty on Dec. 24, 25, 31, and Jan. 1.
  • Solid Waste Management Administrative Offices.
  • Darner Headquarters and Park Reservations Office are closed Dec. 24-Jan. 1. (Online reservations for sports fields and pavilions need to be made 24 hours in advance).
  • Parks and Recreation Community Centers, Adult and Senior Centers, McFarlin and Fairchild Tennis Centers and Barrera Community Fitness Center are closed Dec. 24, 25 and Dec. 31-Jan. 1 (designated Community Centers will offer camps Dec. 19 - Jan. 6 based on school district calendars).
  • The San Antonio Natatorium will be closed on Dec. 24-26 and Dec 30-Jan. 1.
  • Fitness in the Park classes will not be offered on Dec. 24-25; limited class offerings on Dec. 31 and no classes on Jan. 1.
  • Office of the City Clerk, Passports, Vital Records and Municipal Archives and Records.
  • Municipal Court.
  • Alamodome Box Office closed Dec. 24–26 and Dec. 30–Jan. 1.
  • Alamodome Administrative Offices.
  • Carver Community Cultural Center.
  • Central Library and all branch libraries will be closed Dec. 24, 25, 26, 31, and Jan. 1.
  • Development Services Department.
  • Office of Historic Preservation.
  • La Villita will be closed on Dec. 25. Hours and openings may vary by store on Jan. 1..
  • Centro de Artes Gallery will be closed Dec. 24–27 and Dec. 31–Jan. 1.
  • Culture Commons Gallery is currently closed through Jan. 19.
  • The Spanish Governor’s Palace will be closed on Dec. 24, 25, 26, 31, and Jan. 1.
