Video shows bald eagle carrying Canadian goose in its talons

Canadian geese are known to weigh up to 14 pounds

WANAPUM DAM, Wash. – A bald eagle got its goose earlier this month, and CCTV cameras caught the pre-holiday meal on video.

The Grant County Public Utility District shared the video with Storyful showing the bird of prey with a large Canada goose in its talons on Dec. 15.

Chuck Allen, the spokesman for the utility, said, “the footage captures how nature and hydropower coexist on the Columbia River. We manage shoreline areas with habitat for bald eagles, Canada geese and other animals.”

The video was captured at Wanapum Dam in Washington.

“Wanapum Dam also provides safe river passage for hundreds of thousands of migrating salmon each year while producing enough clean, renewable hydropower to meet the needs of a city the size of Seattle,” said Allen.

Canadian geese are known to weigh up to 14 pounds, but the eagle doesn’t appear to have an issue with the large load.
