Authorities said the officer was traveling westbound on the access road of Loop 410 and, after coming to a stop at the intersection of Babcock Road, proceeded through the intersection and was hit by a vehicle traveling southbound.

Police said the impact of the crash caused the patrol vehicle to roll over onto its side and strike a light pole. The officer was taken by ambulance to an area hospital as a precaution.
