Frances Carriaga and her dog died at the scene of the crash

SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified a 65-year-old woman who was killed as she crossed the street on the North Side.

Frances Carriaga and her dog died at the scene of the crash, which happened just after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 12100 block of Jones Maltsberger Road.

The 44-year-old male driver of a Jeep that struck them remained at the scene and was later booked on a driving while intoxicated charge, according to San Antonio police.

Police said he was driving his silver 2018 Jeep Wrangler south on Jones Maltsberger and struck the woman and her dog, as they were crossing from east to west. She was not in a pedestrian crosswalk, police said.
