SAN ANTONIO – The Luminaria Contemporary Arts Festival will return to the heart of downtown San Antonio and will take place a month earlier this year, organizers announced Monday.

Luminaria, a nonprofit organization, said its 15th art and music festival is scheduled for Oct. 21. It typically takes place in November.

It will be held at Hemisfair and the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, where it has been held in previous years.

However, last year the festival was in the areas surrounding The Tobin Center for the Performing Arts and Travis Park due to construction at Hemisfair.

Artists who want to showcase their work can apply now at AnyArtist.org.

“Established and emerging artists in various artistic genres are encouraged to apply,” a news release states. “The festival seeks to spotlight San Antonio, South Texas, and Texas artists, however, applicants from anywhere are welcome to apply.”

The festival includes film, music, theatre, dance, fine art, large installation, sculptures, multi-media art, and more.

The application window closes at 11:59 p.m. on March 26. Click here for more information.

“Our goal with Luminaria is to celebrate and support artists and give them a platform to inspire our community as a whole,” Luminaria Executive Director Yadhira Lozano said in the release. “Through this open call process, we hope to encourage artists of all artistic genres representing the diverse voices and backgrounds of our artistic community to share their unique vision.”
